Ingredients
3 ½ cups (440g) bread flour
1 ½ teaspoons (9g) fine sea salt
2 teaspoons (7g) instant yeast
1 ½ cups (360g) warm water (110°F/
43°C)
½ teaspoon honey
Instructions
– In a large bowl, whisk together flour, salt, and instant yeast.
– Add warm water (110°F) and stir until a sticky dough forms.
– If using honey and/or olive oil, mix them into the water first.
– Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or a damp towel.
– Place it in a warm spot (around 80-85°F/27-29°C). A turned-off oven with the light on works well.
– Let it rise until doubled and bubbly (about 1.5-2 hours).
– Lightly flour a surface and gently shape the dough into a ball.
– Place it seam-side down on parchment paper. Cover with a towel and let it rest for 30-45 while preheating the oven.
– Place your Dutch oven (with lid) in the oven and preheat to 450°F (230°C).
– Once ready, place the dough (on parchment) into the hot Dutch oven. Cover and bake for 25-30 minutes. Remove the lid and bake for another 10-15 minutes until deep golden brown.
– Let it cool on a rack for at least 30 minutes before slicing.
